The Gangs of New York
The Dead Rabbits were a notorious Irish immigrant street gang. They challenged the status quo for fun, they were provocative. And they were extremely proud of their Irish roots. The Legendary Bar
The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog, voted best bar in the world – twice. Sean and Jack the Northern Irish owners who, like the Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey and the Gang, have challenged the status quo, always provocative in their endeavours, and are extremely proud of their Irish roots.
The Distiller
No truly great Irish Whiskey is without a great Master Distiller. That attitude that The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey has? Well, that’s from Darryl.
The Distiller
Darryl McNally is the Master Distiller for The Dublin Liberties Whiskey Company (DLWC) and one of Ireland’s leading technical experts on Irish Whiskey.
As Master Distiller of The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey, Darryl is responsible for all aspects of production, from selecting the grains to be used to create each whiskey, to carefully blending and distilling the liquid to achieve whiskies of the highest quality possible. His skill and passion for whiskey-making is evident from the care and effort he puts into the process and from the success of the DLD brands, which are amongst the fastest-growing Irish Whiskies in the world today.
Daryl has over 20 years in the Irish whiskey industry. He started his career as an apprentice at Ireland’s oldest distillery where he worked for 17 years, eventually achieving his goal of becoming Master Distiller in 2007. In addition to distilling and blending, Darryl’s extensive experience across all aspects of Irish Whiskey includes packaging, supply chain management and bottling.
A member of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, Darryl won the Worshipful Company of Distillers Award in 2010, achieving the highest mark worldwide.
The Whiskey
You’re one of us now.
This is a thrill that lasts and lasts. Every part of your mouth is smiling. This is good, it is saying. This is very good.
Let it linger
Now that first encounter turns into attitude – this is a punchy, heavy-hitter. While the bourbon and vanilla are working you over in a one-two, the spice notes are running riot. This is classic Irish with a definite edge.
Take a sip
Inhale slowly. First, bourbon comes out swinging, followed by vanilla – all sweetness and light. Then the rest of the gang pile in: spice, fruit, malt. Now you know what you’re up against.
It all makes scents
Think honey – thick, rich, liquid gold. It’s a good start.
At first sight
The shelves are the story of Irish whiskey. And the menus are sought-after, talked-about and award-winning documents. This is what makes the Dead Rabbit unique and why it’s won best bar in the world. Twice.
The Dead Rabbit whiskey reflects this that in the care and craft that goes into every drop. Working hand in hand with Darryl Mc Nally, leading Irish whiskey distiller, The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey was conceived - inspired by the gangs and the bar before it.
